February 1, 2000:

Let's all wish Andrea a very happy birthday today. May this year be filled with good health and great success!

February 18, 2000:

Early risers (or late-night owls, depending on how you look at it) can catch Andrea this morning in her hilarious turn as Stella, alongside Bob Hope, in "The Lemon Drop Kid" (1951), on American Movie Classics, beginning at 4:15 a.m. (Eastern), 1:15 a.m. (Pacific). Also, look for Andrea's cameo appearance in "The Linguini Incident" (1991) this coming Sunday, February 20, on American Movie Classics at 3:05 p.m. (Eastern Time), 12:05 p.m. (Pacific).

February 27, 2000:

This coming Thursday, March 2, 2000, the charming fantasy "Mr. Peabody and the Mermaid" will be shown on American Movie Classics at 6:30 p.m. (Eastern), 3:30 p.m. (Pacific Time). Andrea gives a terrific comic performance as Cathy Livingston--"the seductive other woman" in William Powell's life, while he chases after mermaid Ann Blyth and wife Irene Hervey.

March 11, 2000:

The national newspaper USA Today had a cover story yesterday (Friday, March 10, 2000) called "Our Favorite Martians," presumably due to this weekend's event-opening of the movie "Mission to Mars." On the second page of this story (Page 2-E), there is a section on past Martian movies called, "Attack of the Movie Aliens," including a paragraph on Andrea's 1952 film "Red Planet Mars," complete with a picture of Peter Graves and our own Andrea King! Those of you that still have the issue, be sure to check it out.

I'm not sure how long this link will be active, but Click Here to link to the article "Our Favorite Martians" on USA Today's on-line pages! You'll find the corresponding article, "Attack of the Movie Aliens," on there as well as a photo gallery.  Terrific stuff!

March 15, 2000:

For you late-nighters/early-risers, Andrea's small but noticable appearance in "Mr. Skeffington" will be seen on Turner Classic Movies this Saturday morning, March 18, at 6:30 a.m. (EST), 3:30 a.m. (Pacific Time). This film was Andrea's first at Warner Bros. In fact, it was her first day on the lot back in 1944, and the performance is un-billed. She plays Dr. Byles' (George Coulouris) nurse in a scene with visiting patient Fanny Skeffington (Bette Davis). And even in an simple nurse's uniform with only a handful of lines, it's hard to escape the beauty of our Andrea (who was still a brunette at this point)!

March 21, 2000:

Tomorrow, March 22, 2000, you can catch the charming fantasy "Mr. Peabody and the Mermaid," shown on American Movie Classics at 12:30 p.m. (Eastern), 9:30 a.m. (Pacific Time). Andrea gives a terrific comic performance as Cathy Livingston--"the seductive other woman" in William Powell's life, while he chases after mermaid Ann Blyth and wife Irene Hervey.

March 28, 2000:

This Friday, March 31, 2000, is your chance to catch Andrea along with a studio lot-full of stars all playing themselves in "Hollywood Canteen," on Turner Classic Movies at 5:30 p.m. (EST), 2:30 p.m. (Pacific). Look sharp for a brunette Andrea helping Joan Leslie find Bette Davis in one scene, and dancing with Robert Hutton right next to Joan Crawford in another.

April 18, 2000:

This coming Saturday morning (April 22), Andrea King fans will be treated to her moving performance opposite Dennis Morgan in "God Is My Co-Pilot," based on the true story of Lt. Robert L. Scott. It's on Cinemax (a premium channel) this time, at 10 a.m. (Eastern Time), 7 a.m. (Pacific). But for those of you who don't have the pay-channel, fear not. This movie turns up on TCM quite frequently. Although Andrea's role is supporting, it's a gem, and she gives one of her best performances. This hugely popular movie was the top grossing picture for Warner Bros. in 1945.

April 30, 2000:

Here's a chance to see Andrea in her own personal favorite film!  See her in an electrifying performance, in the leading role she was reported to have stolen from the legendary Bette Davis! "Hotel Berlin" (Warner Bros., 1945) will be shown on Turner Classic Movies this coming Tuesday morning (early!), May 2nd, at 4:00 a.m. (Eastern) and 1:00 a.m. (Pacific). Andrea gives a truly classic performance as the glamorous German actress Lisa Dorn, alongside the strong talents of Helmut Dantine, Raymond Massey, Faye Emerson and Peter Lorre. Don't miss this one!

May 06, 2000:

This coming Monday morning, May 8, 2000, you can catch the charming fantasy "Mr. Peabody and the Mermaid," shown on American Movie Classics at 9:00 a.m. (Eastern), 6:00 a.m. (Pacific Time). Andrea gives a terrific comic performance as Cathy Livingston -- "the seductive other woman" in William Powell's life, while he chases after mermaid Ann Blyth and wife Irene Hervey.

May 20, 2000:

For you late-night owls, Andrea's small but noticable appearance in "Mr. Skeffington" will be seen on Turner Classic Movies this Thursday, May 25, at 3:30 a.m. (EST), 12:30 a.m. (Pacific Time). This film was Andrea's first at Warner Bros. In fact, it was her first day on the lot back in 1944, and her performance is un-billed.

June 5, 2000:

Since Andrea's movies seem to be coming fast and furious these days on television (which is not a bad thing!), I've decided to provide you with a direct link to a page on the Internet Movie Database that will tell you which of her films is airing, when and where. It's easy to use, just click here to find out what's playing, set your VCRs and enjoy!

October 14, 2000:

Andrea King enters the world of DVD at last on October 31, 2000, with the release of 1951's "The Lemon Drop Kid," starring Bob Hope. For more information on how to get your own copy of this holiday classic on DVD, click here.

October 30, 2001:

I'm happy to report that a fascinating new book has been published by McFarland & Company, Inc., entitled, "The Women of Warner Brothers - The Lives and Careers of 15 Leading Ladies." The well-researched book has been penned by Daniel Bubbeo, a frequent visitor to this Web site, and he has done a terrific job. Our own Andrea King is one of the 15 women featured, along with Joan Blondell, Nancy Coleman, Bette Davis, Olivia de Havilland, Glenda Farrell, Kay Francis, Ruby Keeler, Pricilla Lane, Joan Leslie, Ida Lupino, Eleanor Parker, Ann Sheridan, Alexis Smith and Jane Wyman. Each actress is given a substantial chapter that includes a glamorous photograph and intimate details of their lives and careers before, during and after their days at Warner Bros. For more information on the book and how to purchase it, click here.

November 17, 2001:

Many Andrea King fans have been waiting for this one... the video release of "God Is My Co-Pilot" (Warner Bros., 1945) on VHS! This film was one of the most popular of the WWII Wartime Era, and features our lovely Andrea in a terrific supporting performance opposite Dennis Morgan. Don't miss out on this one! Click here for details on how to purchase your very own copy!

March 2, 2003:

We discovered a hidden gem in "The Ramparts We Watch" (RKO, 1940) -- a new VHS release from MoviesUnlimited.com. It features a 20-year-old Andrea King before she was known as Andrea King! This is the film star's only appearance on the sliver screen prior to her signing with Warner Bros. in 1944. Andrea is fresh-faced, young, and lovely in this unusual ensemble docu-drama. The print is a bit choppy and not the greatest of quality, but it's still highly viewable... and very fascinating! For more information on how to order your own copy, click here!

August 8, 2003:

The one-year anniversary of the passing of Andrea King.  Gone, but not forgotten.

"Mr. Skeffington" is making its debut on DVD! This acclaimed Bette Davis drama was Andrea's first film assignment under contract at Warner Bros. Visit our Merchandise page to pre-order your copy today!

September 2, 2006:

"Band of Angels" will be released on DVD this coming January! You can pre-order your copy now from our Merchandise page. This large-scale saga of the Deep South stars Clark Gable, Yvonne De Carlo and Sidney Poitier, with our Andrea in a small but pivotal and memorable role as the sinister Miss Idell.

January 31, 2007:

This just in! Hot off the press!

On May 8, 2007, the rarely-seen swashbuckling adventure "Buccaneer's Girl" will be released by Universal Home Entertainment on DVD as part of a set of films called "Pirates of the Golden Age Movie Collection." Andrea has a juicy supporting role as a villainous countess... and this movie includes a priceless, campy, knock-down-drag-out "cat fight" between Andrea and the film's leading lady Yvonne De Carlo. You can pre-order your copy now from our Merchandise page!

February 1, 2007:

A very happy birthday to our lovely star Andrea, who would have been 88 today.

March 28, 2007:

Family and friends of Andrea King are mourning the loss of her sister Anne Chapman, who passed away in her sleep today. Annie was a strong spirit, a delightful person, and possessed a heart of gold. She will be missed by many who knew and loved her.

August 4, 2008:

A double dose of good news for Andrea fans! The wartime star-studded musical "Hollywood Canteen" will be making its debut on DVD this fall, with a release date of November 11, 2008.

And we couldn't be happier, because one of the extra features included on the disc will be a short film Andrea starred in called "Proudly We Serve."

It's all being released as part of a 3-disc set entitled "Warner Bros. and the Homefront Collection." The other musicals included are "This Is the Army" and "Thank Your Lucky Stars," and all are loaded with extras! We're mostly excited about Andrea's contributions, naturally! But this DVD collection looks to be one of the best to come out in a long while. Don't miss it!

A special thanks goes out to Shaun K. Chang for supplying us with this information!
